How can I find out other trains in France, TGV is so expensive for my budget trip.
EXCELLENT ADVICE! Thank you
Go to bahn.de and plug in your travel schedule and it will show all trains between those location. Also the French rail site will do the same but is a bit more difficult to use. Do not use RailEurope as they only show a limited number of schedules. Tim or Lee should be along with much better info,
Head over to http://www.tgv-europe.com, and tell the site that you live in the UK and will retrieve your tickets in France. It will be mostly in French, but you should be able to figure it out even if you don't speak the language. You can save a lot of money on TGV trains if you purchase advance non-refundable/non-changeable fares. You can print the tickets at home or pick them up at the station with the credit card you used.
If you go to tgv-europe.com and select Great Britain as your country of residence, the site will be entirely in English. The site will show regional train service as well as TGV service.
When will you be in France? And what are your routes? While standard fares on TGVs can be pretty high, if you book well in advance (up to three months allowed) at tgv-europe.com, you can get quite cheap discount fares. However, those tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable so you have to be able to commit to specific departure dates and times.
