Hi,
As you know, if you are not an Italian citizen you can't register as a customer with Trenitalia, and have to buy tickets without registration. I bought 2 train tickets one for myself and one for my daughter, when I printed out the tickets, both tickets were in my name (eventhough I completed information for 2 passengers). When I tried reaching the online chat, to ask them, how can I change the name on one of the tickets, the online chat requires a customer number. So I can't even contact customer service. So how do that, or how do you change a name on a ticket that has already been purchased or is it a problem if the ticket isn't in my daughters name.
thanks,
The name on the ticket doesn't matter, the only thing the conductor looks at is the PNR number. It doesn't matter if they're both in the same name, or one without name, or with fake names. Don't worry!
Thanks what a relief! As a read something in the train regulations, that the name on the ticket has to match your ID, and that they will not accept the ticket if there is not a match or ask you to pay a fee( 15euros) to make a name change.
The bit about matching ID only applies to online tickets and is to stop you printing a second copy of the ticket and giving it to someone else to use sitting in another part of the train.
Trains are not like planes, tickets are not for specific people, they are like cash, anybody can use them. Your ticket is for two people, yourself and whoever you want to bring with you on the day.
This is an online ticket, and I do have to print out the tickets. So I hope I won't have problems.
You'll have no problems. I've never been asked to provide ID when showing tickets to the inspectors.
Don't worry spearl, online ticket or not, the only thing that matters is the pnr number! :)
Thanks so much everyone for your advice!
There is no check in with trains so no comparing tickets against names, etc. All they want to see is two tickets. Sometimes they will want the credit card that purchased the ticket but I don't think applies in Italy. May be a German thing.
Just to avoid spreading wrong info on the internet: you don't need to be registered to chat with trenitalia. The "cartafreccia" field has no asterisk to the right meaning it isn't a mandatory one.
It's the "Schedule a call" option that's reserved to Cartafreccia fidelity card holders.
Foreigners can actually register on trenitalia.com sending an email to cfreccia.application@trenitalia.it and a pdf copy of a valid passport.
Agree. I'm registered with Trenitalia and I'm not an Italian citizen.
How did you register? As soon as I put in my Canadian address, it won't let me complete the registration and it states on the site that registration is available for Italian citizens only.
Cancel my previous comment, I just read the previous response detailing how to register for which I will now try. Thanks so much.
