I was trying to book a ticket on this web site to down town town Paris.
I would like to get the ticket on hand.
I tried to do it but the site said there was too many options for arrival.
The trains from CDG to central Paris are run by SNCF, but under a regional Paris train authority, so they won't show up on the SNCF website. It's like the GO train service, so they don't sell tickets in advance.
Stew, where do you want to go downtown? It's not a small area. Next, one of the easist ways to get from CDG to downtown is on the Metro Line B. Depending on where you want to go, you may have to transfer to another train. The Metro is just a local Paris transit system. SNCF is an inter-city and international train website. I'm not aware that you can buy Metro tickets on the SNCF site. Also, why do you have to have a local Metro ticket in hand? You can walk up to the ticket window at the airport and buy them.
BTW, here's a better Paris Metro map that you can print (I printed this one). The last one I sent you was a great map but you couldn't print it. The CDG airport is on the upper right of the map. CLICK HERE for the map.
Just to clarify Larry's comments.....the RER commuter rail service and the Metro are two separate, yet linked operations. There is not Metro line B to CDG airport...that's the RER regional train line B. Cost for a one-way ticket is about 8.50 Euro and, as Larry notes, you buy them at eitheer the RER train station under terminal 2, or at the RER station near terminal 3. All three terminals and the RER station near terminal 3 are connected by the CDGVal driverless train.
Thanks for the clarification Norm. Much appreciated.
The fare for a single ticket from CDG to anywhere in central Paris is €8.40. This includes transfers from the RER B line to the Metro and/or other RER lines until you exit the system. Your ticket will get you to within a few blocks of any hotel in the city.
