Arriving at 10:00 on a Saturday in November, how much time should be allotted to get through immigration we will also have bags. We are considering using Just Airports for transportation from Heathrow to near King's Cross Station which I believe is WC-1. Are they reliable, have insurance, any extra charges? We will tell them our flight number and it seems from their T&Cs they will monitor for delays. Any advice appreciated.
"how long to get through immigration?"--- If someone/anyone could truly answer that question, they could make themselves filthy rich, charging just a $1 per question.
The best anyone can do is give you a range. There are too many variables to give a specific time.
From the time you park at the gate until you get curbside I suspect the answers will mostly fall in the 1-2 hours range.
All taxi companies will monitor their passenger's flight, they won't simply turn up when the flight is expected to arrive as that could be a costly mistake. Give them your flight number and they will monitor to see whether it's delayed or not. Drivers will factor in immigration time and will be there for you (unless they've completely forgotten which has happened to me!).
Don't worry about insurance or extra charges. All taxis are insured, they're licenced, they have to be. The price you're quoted is the price you pay, nothing more. Don't be wary about rip off taxi scams, it just doesn't happen here.
I have no experience of Just Airports as I usually drive to and from Heathrow.
We arrived at Heathrow on a Sunday morning in late July this year and it took us about 90 minutes to get through immigration. We took the Heathrow Express (cheaper on the weekends) to Paddington Station to get into the city.
Is this the first time you've traveled abroad and maybe the first time having car service pick up at the airport?
You could get through immigration in 10 minutes; you could get through immigration in 2 hours. Car service knows that. Don't worry about Just Airports. Read their website to go over their pricing.
King's Cross postcode begins with N1, not WC1
Hotels south of Euston Road have a WC1 postcode, the station itself is in N1.
My wife and I got through in about 40 minutes last month, although we arrived on a Wednesday morning on a flight from JFK that was only half full.
Thanks all. Nigel thanks for the clarification on the WC-1 versus N1. The website for Just Airports requires entry of the post code and N1 is not an option while WC-1 is. Appreciated. Never used a car service before.
