How much time needed to change planes in Amsterdam?

Flying home Venice - Amsterdam - Toronto I'm seeing super short layovers. I know 55 minutes is crazy, but what about 1 hr 45 minutes? Is that also too little time?
Thanks!

Don't understand. Are you saying that the connection time is 1 hour and 45 minutes? That should be fine.

yes, 1 hour 45 minutes to get through whatever passport control, etc. I know that's way too little time in places like CDG...not sure how much time I would need in Amsterdam. Thanks!

The Amsterdam airport is pretty efficient on transfers. However, when we changed planes last year, there were some people who missed their connecting flight, but I didn't hear the details. 1 hour 45 minutes is more than enough. 55 minutes seems tight, but with the express lane, that would probably be doable.

I hate to do less than 2.5 or 3 hours altho I know 1:45 is doable in AMS. Is there an earlier flight out of Venice? Last time I left from Italy at oh-dark-30 for an AMS connection I promised myself that next time I would spend the night before in AMS. I made it fine but it was stressful for me and if I can avoid adding stress I do. I also find Venice water transport to the airport stressful so not sure I’d want to try and leave there early, early.

Sorry this sounds really negative but this is how I assess things for myself!!

I made a similarly timed connection last April on my way home and as others say, you'll need to move fast--grab your stuff, get off that plane and move swiftly through the crowds. I didn't have time to use the restroom and barely had time to grab a bottle of water after getting through passport control. I got to my gate and they were starting to board already. My connection was long enough, though, that I couldn't use the express line.

I once had 35 minutes for a connection between Amsterdam and Venice. I don’t know how I made the connection but I did, although I was the last person to board and nearly missed the flight. After that sprint I was ready for the Olympics! An hour and 45 minutes should be fine. Less than an hour would be close. It’s a big airport and if your first visit, it could be a bit daunting.

Last time we were in Amsterdam they changed our concourse 3 times! Not just the gate number! We would no sooner get to the gate and they would change to another, we even had to go through security twice. Incredibly thankful for 2 hours, we still were cutting it close and it was incredibly stressful. Would never do under an hour, would risk 1hr 45 because our situation was probably a fluke.

1:45 is probably a legal connection if you are flying on one ticket. Obviously, if the first flight is delayed you could miss your connection. The question I always ask in that situation is: then what? How would you get home? Your airline would put you on the next flight home at no expense to you if both flights were on the same ticket. What are your later options to get home? Is there a flight 2-3 hours later, even a connecting flight somewhere else? Or would you be stuck in Amsterdam overnight? Google Flights for example should show you what flights would depart Amsterdam for Toronto after your scheduled flight.

1 hr 45 mins should be fine as long as your Venice - Amsterdam flight has historical data that shows it typically arrives on time.
