We will be staying in the area near the Vatican and need to get to Fiumicino airport. Our flight leaves at 9:00 am (to Munich) How long does it take to get there and what is the best way?

Subway(1E) to Termini station takes 10 minutes. Express train (11E) to the airport takes 35 minutes. The first train runs @ 6am, so you can make it to the airport by 6:40 - perfect for your 0900 flight. Two people for 24E
You could ask your hotel or B & b host to arrange a cab for about 40E- your call.

Double check the subway times, it may be that the first subway train will not get you to the Termini in time to catch the first airport train, but they do leave each half hour. Most buses I know don't start running until 5:00.
