Hi. We are traveling to Florence from Rome and then Naples from rome on the fast trains. We booked our tickets online. Is there a place we scan the QR code to get on the train. First time in europe
No. Just find your correct seat and hand your ticket to the conductor when he/she comes by. A Regionale train will not have assigned seats but that should be clear from the tickets you are holding.
You won’t need to scan anything in order to board the train. Depending on how you bought your tickets and which company you used, you can get the appropriate app on your phone and hopefully load the tickets on that. Or, you can print the ticket if you bought it online which should contain the QR code. You’ll need to show it either on your phone or paper ticket when the conductor comes by to check the tickets.
Many train stations have a diagram on the platform indicating where your car will stop.
Hi val. Above info is generally correct. However, a few stations, including Rome, have an extra layer of security where you need to scan your QR code or show your ticket to gain entry to the train platform area, also sometimes need to show again to access the specific track for your train. Have a great trip!
What Bob said. We were caught by surprise in England last year (I know, not Italy, but still...) when we had to show our tickets when we got off the train in Bath, and then also show the Two Together card we had used to get a discount.
