How do I use my iDTGV home-printed ticket?

I have the ticket with its barcode. I leave for Nice tomorrow morning, April 12. At the station in Paris (Lyon) is there a barcode reader or do I just take the printout onto the train and have the conductor read it?

How did you get your ticket w/ the barcode? I have reservation confirmation (i think), but there is no bar code. Do I need to do something to get an actual ticket (eticket)? Thanks!

On the page that says your reservation is confirmed there should be something that says "print ticket." You can print in black/white. A scrambled sort of barcode will print on your full-page ticket.

After getting Steve's info about using the ticket, I got a message from the French rail system that my train for tomorrow had been cancelled due to last week's strike. After a little hyperventilating, I got some good advice and went to the train station for WHAT TO DO. The info guy at Gare de Lyon said "just show up and get on a train for Nice." I can use the same ticket.

Is it just me or does everybody get caught in these transit strikes? Rhetorical question, of course. I'll let you know how my trip to Nice from Paris turns out. Worst case, I spend hours in the train station before I can get on a train. Best case, I board a train about the time of my original (cancelled) train and arrive in Nice in the early afternoon in time for my nap.

Swan, thanks for the info on printing the ticket. I will be looking forward to hearing about your trip/train experience, etc. My daughter and I will be in France in June and will be taking the train from Nice to Paris and return to Nice. Hope all goes well for you!

My train trip Paris-Nice went according to schedule. The train had a different number, but it left at the time of the originally scheduled train. In Nice, I'm at the Durante Hotel (from RS books) and finding that 3 stars really means something in this case. It's even nicer than the Provence (RS) book describes. Since my barcode was never read by the conductor, I may get a refund on my train ticket.
