Sure, lots of people on here go to Paris regularly. Many take a combination of the RER train and Metro lines which is the least expensive. I, personally, just budget money to take a taxi from the airport. I'm jet lagged and even traveling with just carry on I don't want to mess with a train and metro even though I know ~how~ to do it. There is a fixed rate for the ride in to Paris from the airport, 50 Euro for the Right Bank where the Champs-Elysee is located and 55 Euro for the other side of the river. No tip needed.
To get the taxi at CDG, you follow the signs to the Taxi stand, get in line and let the manager at the head of the line put you in to a cab. I did not have anyone approach me in August when I was there, but in the past rogue taxi drivers will walk up to people in the terminal building and ask if they need a taxi. When I was there this last time there were guys in blue vests labeled Taxi Information that were directing people to the real taxi rank. It's easy to find and they were very efficient on the Saturday AM when I was there last.
When I go to Paris, I always use the Air France bus. I have stayed near or on the Champs Elysees I would take the Air France bus and it was so nice and easy and not nearly as expensive as a cab. I also took the bus when I stayed in other parts of the city. The Paris Marriott Champs Elysees is a very, very nice hotel and pretty ritzy so I would contact them and ask them if they have their own shuttle buses or have a way of getting you from the airport to their hotel. If they don't then the Air France bus is really a great way to go and again easy to buy a ticket, they load your luggage and you get off at the stop and walk over the the Champs Elysees. Have a wonderful time!
When I stayed at a hotel a few blocks over from the Champs Elysees on a RS tour this is the hotel directions they gave and I followed them and had not problem:
Bus to Place de l’Etoile ~ Take Air France bus #2 to Place de l’Etoile (Champs Elysees). The bus departs outside of Terminal 1 (near entrance 32) and Terminal 2 (various locations; ask at any orange ADP information for specifics). If your flight arrives at Terminal 3, take the free airport shuttle train to Terminals 1 or 2. No matter where you board, the bus will be clearly marked Air France, Place de l’Etoile, and the driver will announce the stop upon arrival. A ticket costs about €17, buses depart every 30 minutes, and the trip takes around 60 minutes. Purchase your ticket directly from the driver or any Air France booth. Exit the bus at the Place de l’Etoile, Avenue Carnot, the large and very busy circular intersection that surrounds the Arc de Triomphe.
I hope this helps. I see no need to take a cab to the hotel when the Air France bus is easy and cheaper if it is only you traveling. Have a safe trip!
If your travel party is one person and one bag then I agree that the Air France bus is the best choice; if you're more than that then go for the taxi although I'd consider ordering it ahead online so you can pay for it now and have one less transaction to do in the moment. In any case, keep courtesy in mind and have some smaller bills ready to give the driver.
I've done the RER method more than once and personally don't see the appeal unless you've got more time than money or are really in the mood to try and meet some strangers as quickly as you can. If the latter is true, then just try bumming a ride with someone on their way in your direction.
The service previously known as the "Air France bus" is now branded "Le Bus Direct", probably to finally get rid of the misconception that it was only for Air France air passengers. The services are much the same.
Thank you I did not know they changed the name of the bus, I took the bus last year in Paris when it was still called Air France.
there is no reason to order a taxi online when arriving at Charles de Gaulle and going into the city. You simply get in line at the taxi rank and take the one that's there when it's your turn.
A taxi will be 50 euros to the Champs-Elysées for up to four people and their baggage.
Hi Cheryl,
We stayed at this property last year and the location is perfect! We loved the hotel as well.
We took a taxi and we're glad we did. You just walk out of the airport and they are all waiting in a line and they take you right to the hotel front door. Easy and in my opinion, worth every penny at that point of jet lag. :-)
