UPDATE: I just wanted to let everyone know that this worked out perfectly! I will definitely be using this service again.
I got to the hotel in Minneapolis on Wednesday where I was going to park my car for 6 nights, filled out some paperwork, and the desk clerk told me where to park the car. She was very nice and when i asked her whether it was better to do this through the hotel, rather than Park Sleep Fly, she said no. She told me that they love the company and it's actually cheaper to go with PSF, rather than doing this directly through the hotel. She then told me that the shuttle wasn't available, so she called an Uber (paid for by the hotel) to take me to the airport. The Uber was there in 5 minutes and got me there quickly.
Upon my return at 9:30 pm, I called the number she gave me once I was past airport security. The hotel said they would send an Uber directly (again, prepaid). I was able to watch its progress on the Uber app, which was nice. It got there in about 10 minutes, took me to the hotel where I checked in and slept very soundly in a comfortable room.
it really was a terrific experience and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to park, sleep and fly (and it doesn't have to be in that order, either). :-)
.................................................
I'm heading out in about 10 days to Salt Lake to visit my brother, and decided to get a cheap flight with Sun Country. Unfortunately, my return flight doesn't get into MSP until almost 10 pm. There's no way I am going to drive 2 1/2 hours up to Duluth at that hour so I figured I'd get a hotel that night. Plus it allows me to do a Trader Joe's run the next day. :-)
Usually I take the shuttle (which would have cost me around $120 RT), but since I was spending the night (and wanted to stop at TJ's), I needed my car. I checked on the Minneapolis subreddit for parking options, and spotted a few posts about Park Sleep Fly. This allows you to book a hotel room and also lets you park your car there while you're gone all for the one price.
When I went to the site, there were at least 50 hotels in the MSP area, ranging in price from budget to pricey. I wound up going with a Holiday Inn about 7 miles from the airport. It has airport shuttle service and I can park my car there for the 6 days I am gone. All I had to do was input the date I would start parking, and whether I wanted to stay at the beginning of my trip or the end, and then the departure date.
The total price for the one night stay and 6 days of parking was $167, including taxes and fees (and is completely refundable). Parking at the lowest-priced off-airport lot would have cost me $98 for 6 days, and I would have still had to pay for a hotel. The reviews on Reddit from those who have used it are excellent. It looks like they offer this in all major cities and airports in the US and also Canada.
I'll come back and let you know how it went, but it seems like a great option.
