flights are outrageously expensive (from seville too)--close to $500 for about a 500 mile flight, plus most having a change of planes in barcelona or madrid making it a 12 hour flight!), and a rental car is out of the question as well (unable to rent in spain and drop off in portugal unless again paying an exhorbitant fee). the only train goes thru madrid (way out of the way)and takes forever also. is a bus my only option? are there any 'rideshare' programs in europe? it seems that it is virtually impossible to go directly from granada or seville to lisbon!
thanks in advance for any help/advice/info!
it will be my first time in either country.
From Sevilla, bus is your best option. Three a day via the Portuguese bus line EVA (http://www.eva-bus.com/home.php?lang=UK), taking between 5 and 6:15 hours, depending on which one you catch. You can buy tickets on line here too. Unfortunately, transportation links between the two countries are extraordinarily poor. If you're coming from Granada, train or bus it to Sevilla (about 3 hours), but you'll have to get from the San Sebastien bus station to the Plaza de Armes bus station....not too far.
You can bus it via eurolines.com from Sevilla it is 40 euros and from Granada it is 59 euros on eway. you also could rent a car and drive from Sevilla to Algarve(enjoy this area) then drive to Lisbon . the drive is easy and doesn't get heavy unless you go downtown Lisbon.
hope this helps alittle.
