We will be traveling from Budapest, Hungary, to Basel, Switzerland. We are traveling on 7/2/11 and the train goes into the train station near the Germany border. We only have a short stay in Basel as we leave on a River Cruise the next day. We need to find a hotel that is reasonable and nice near the train station, or tell us how to get to another hotel of our choice once we get into Basel. Thanks.

By "the train station near the Germany border" you probably mean Basel Badischer bahnhof which is operated by the Deutsche Bahn, the German train company. The other station is Basel SBB. You could start your hotel search at www.basel.com/en and name your price range. Then use a map or the hotel's website to find the location. Good luck.

Or use www.Venere.com You can search by location and price in most all cities in Europe. I used venere to book a hotel by the airport in Basel last September, it was fantastic. Very modern/clean and had a free shuttle to the airport for us in the morning to catch our flight home.
