Thanks to several people for help; now we are thinking we will indeed take the Eurostar from Heathrow and that night stay in London, leaving for Paris the next day. We will have been traveling over 12 hours and due to our age find it best to break up the travel at this point! So---any suggestions for a medium priced hotel near the train station?(Near meaning a short walk or taxi ride) Thank You!

The Eurostar leaves from St. Pancras train station which is not in a very attractive neighborhood, IMHO. It's about 1.5 miles from there to the Bloomsbury area (around the British Museum) which has lots of hotels and restaurants. We have reservations at the Morgan Hotel which gets lots of recommendations (haven't been there yet ourselves though).
