Hotels near Charles de Gaulle airport, Paris

My daughter flies out of CDG airport in Paris in early September on a 10 a.m. flight. Does anyone have suggestions about a hotel somewhat near the airport - preferably with a shuttle service - that doesn't cost the prohibitive rates I have seen on the internet? Because of train connections, she must arrive from Germany the prior evening. Thanks.

Look at accorhotes.com. Use the CDG airport as a subcriterian under Paris as a location. All the hotels in the various chains of the corporation that are listed as being under five kilometeres from the airport are either in the terminal or served by a frequent shuttle bus.

You'll note that there is not a Formula 1 chain in the corporation. That chain is called Formule1. The absence of a space between the word and the numberal is also correct.

If she has her boarding pass in hand, then arriving at CDG about 90-120 minutes ahead is fine. If not, the long, tangled lines and high confusion to get boarding passes and drop bags (if needed) mean that she would be better off having 2 and a half hours or even a bit more before the flight. The RER takes about 45 minutes, plus Metro connection time, so that makes the trip in from Paris super early if she stays in Paris.

Here's another option--one I took a couple weeks ago: stay at one of the airport hotels--the Ibis and the Hilton CDG both have shuttles to the terminals or you can walk over to the CDGVal station and take that for free to the terminals. (Ibis works out cheaper usually, but I got a good deal on the Hilton for only about 10 euros more online...) Then, leaving her bags at the hotel, stroll to the CDG Val station, buy a Paris Visite card, take the RER into Paris, change to the Metro, head for your restaurant of choice--where reservations have already been made--enjoy a lovely French dinner, stroll a bit after along to Seine or admire the twinkling Eiffel Tower, take the RER back to the airport, and next morning, roll out of bed to the shuttle and remind yourself to get back to Paris one of these days. (The Paris Visite card for one day costs about the price of a round trip RER trip, plus gives you Metro access...)

I did this about two weeks ago when I was traveling from London to Seattle via Paris and had an overnight layover in Paris. Really delightful, and having my boarding pass already printed meant that the chaos that is CDG was much more tolerable.

Last summer we stayed at the Ibis located next to Terminal 3 and the interterminal tram. I'm too much of a nervous Nellie to stay in town before an A.M. flight. We got a 60 euro rate by taking the prepay, no refund option on their website. There are two Ibis hotels listed as being at CDG, but the other requires a shuttle bus ride, so is a little less convenient.

The first response has been changed, and has
gone from Formula 1 to Formule 1. It's still not quite correct since the correct spelling is Formule1 (without the space).

The link and reference must mean the copyright info in the lower LEFT corner: hmmmmm.... looks like a typo. Note how it's spelled all over the rest of the link, including all the signs -- which match the ones out in front of all the hotels.

'And yes I did change the A to an E to correct my typo.' must also refer to the numerous other posts in which the same 'typo' was made.
