Hop on Hop off in Vienna

Where should I purchase tickets? Is it better to buy them in the US or wait until I arrive in Vienna?

Unless you can get them at discount, why brother to buy in advance? One less thing to keep track of. These things never sell out of fill up.

If you wish to ride Hop on Hop off, then buy the fare in Vienna; at least the driver will announce what you're about to see. I like Vienna, but Vienna doesn't seem to have a love affair with street signs or building signs. And sometimes, where there is a street sign, one can be thoroughly confusedbecause from one side of the street, the sign you see says X strasse; from the other side of the street the sign says Y strasse! I hopped a tram, in hopes of getting acquainted with the neighborhoods and buildings around the Ringstrasse, but the tram windows weren't tall enough to see much, the tram went too fast to see much, and I didn't see any signs to identify buildings. If I go back to Vienna, I may just walk the Ringstrasse with a map!

You can get them there no problem. I must tell you that it is overpriced and not worth the money. You can do the same Ring trip on the regular Trams (Bim) at a fraction of the cost. Check the Tripadvisor Vienna forum for peoples thoughts about this.
