Hop on Hop Off in Barcelona

We are considering using the HOHO in Barcelona has our main mode of transportation while in Barcelona for 2 days. I understand it does have its limitations, but after reviewing the route maps, it appears to have what we may need. Has anyone used them and is there a specific company you would recomment purchasing them through? Any other thoughs would be greatly appeciated.

Barcelona has a great metro and public bus system and taxis are plentiful. Really easy city to walk too. Not sure why you'd consider using these tourist buses to get around.

edit: That sounds a bit condescending. If you're not accustomed to using public transport, don't worry. It's really easy once you look into it. If your mobility is ok, most of the main tourist sites in central Barcelona are easy to walk to. Tell us about where you'd like to visit and I'm sure we can help without relying on a service which isn't really set up to be used as a form of transport for just getting around.

Others opinions may vary, but my opinion of HOHO buses is if the sights are spread out, and the bus actually goes right to the sight, then it has value, but rarely for more than a one day overview. So London, sure, Paris, sure, Rome, Nope, Barcelona? maybe, just depends on you. But at the most, do a one day tour, not multiple days. The Metro is cheap, and most sights within walking distance, so maybe Barcelona is a tough sell. Really the only outliers of significance are Familia Sagrada and Parc Guell, but they may cover other sights, so you just have to weigh the value.

Many thanks to everone's recommendations.

We have no real plans for sigtseeing the big sites while in Barcelona. Except to maybe walk and enjoy many sights and areas. We will be coming off of 3 days in Rome and then an 8 day cruise and just want to chill out and enjoy the city. We are not booking any sights to see in Barelona. Understanding anything we may decide to see we will face long lines or no entry at all. We are wanting to just enjoy and see the city. When we decide to get of, we'll walk and explore. The only public transprtation we'll use is to the airport. We are very comfortable with buses, trains and metros.

My friend and I spent 3 nights in Barcelona and found that with the HOHO we could see the highlights of such a spread out city in our limited time. We did stop at some places that were more of interest to us, but otherwise were satisfied with passing by.

The Recinte Modernista Sant Pau site in Barcelona is one you can visit without buying a ticket in advance. If you like modernista architecture, it's a very good choice. Of course, you can enjoy the exteriors of many modernista buildings in Barcelona.

What I'd worry about with the HO/HO buses is long waits for reboarding if you get off. If you aren't going to do that, a basic, drive-by bus tour would be cheaper, and you wouldn't have to cool your heels, standing in a long line at a pick-up point.
