So, do I read this right? You want to go from Hohenschwangau to Innsbruck, spend the night in Innsbruck, then go to Venice the next day? How many people? Single? Two?. . . . . . . ¶ A single person can buy a ticket in Reutte all the way to Innsbruck via Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald for €20,70. . . . . . . ¶ You might find the least expensive way to get from Innsbruck to Venice is to book Kufstein, AT (a German Rail border station) to Verona on an EC, via German Rail. With advance booking you could get that ticket for €29. That train goes through Kufstein at 10:36. You'd have to go from Innsbruck to Kufstein (45-75 min, €13,90) by 10:36; there are lots of local trains. Then you'd have to buy the Italian ticket from Verona to Venice (€18,50, depending on the train) in Verona.
Instead of spending a night in Innsbruck, you might consider spending the day, and then going to Kufstein to catch the CNL night train from there clear through to Venice. Again, by booking ahead, you could get the benefit of a private compartment and the rail transportation for not much more than the rail transportaion and a hotel, and it will take you all the way to Venice S.L. . . . . . . . ¶ Up date: If you book through Austrian Rail (www.oebb.at, Sparschiene) you can get that same €29 from Innsbruck to Verona and save the trip to Kufstein. It looks like the only overnight connection offered by Austrian Rail is leaving Innsbruck at 1:38 and going to Villach, then by special bus to Venice.
