My wife and I flew on British Airways from Washington to London and back in September. The coach fare was $724 each. I just checked with British Airways to see what it will cost us for the same round trip next April, and it comes to $904 each. I knew that fares were going up a bit, but thats $180 per person. A lot more than "just a bit". I'm in a quandary. Should I buy tickets next month as planned, or should I wait a bit longer?
British Airways flight prices go up and down almost daily.
In May, I booked my trip to London from Denver for $641 (including all fees) non stop round trip in economy (I leave on Nov 18th). It has since gone up to $979, then dropped to $869, back to $650 and as of a few days ago, up to $989.
I think it has a bit to do with how full the flight is, and maybe how much gas and surcharges cost.
I know the worst thing to do is to check prices AFTER you purchase, but it actually made me feel better since it is so high now!
If you are flexible and can take what you can get the closer to your dates you want, then you can probably wait. Otherwise, just think of what price it is that would be worth it to you and commit to it.
My husband and I flew to London in April '09 for $573 (including all fees) non stop round trip each, on United Airlines. We bought our tickets at the end of January '09.
