I have reserved a car in Avignon for 2 weeks this summer. Recently we have decided we might like to drive to Venice and leave the car there. Does anyone know what the one way fee would be or if it's even a possibility? Any help would be appreciated.
Hertz's one way drop fee for your itinerary is 525 euros. (To find out the drop fee, all you have to do is go to hertz.com and do a dummy reservation.)
For a comparison, check AutoEurope prices online. This company is a rental car broker. They arrange for rentals through Avis, Hertz and Europcar. We've always rented from them and have had no problems.
You can easily check online by using any car rental website or Auto Europe. Renting in one country and dropping off in another=huge drop off fees.
Christine, As the others have mentioned, the fees for renting in one country and dropping in another are usually astronomical. Travel by train would be a cheaper and easier solution! One point to note is that for driving in Italy, each driver will require the compulsory I.D.P. If you need further information on some of the other "issues" on driving there, post another note.
