I have visited the Trenitalia website and find it horribly confusing. Is there another reputable website that is more user friendly that anyone knows of?

What kind of trouble are you having? If you want fares as well as timetables for routes within Italy, you need to use the Trenitalia site. If you only need timetables, go to www.bahn.de. It's the best timetable site for all of Europe.

Try italiarail.com or call them at 888 538 7245, they are in the US. They claim that no matter how hard you try you cannot use trenitalia unless you are in Italy. It will cost a little more.

While the Trenitalia site can be frustrating and registering before booking can be problematic, it is NOT true that you can only use it in Italy. Many people on this and other boards report successfully booking tickets on the site.
