Help with tain from Gatwick

Hello. In September we will need to go from Gatwick to Lambeth Road tube station. The B&B we are staying in says to take train to Victotia Station, then take about a 25 minute bus ride.

Rome2Rio says train, then tube to Waterloo station, then walk from there. I'm thinking we shoild beable to take the tube from Waterloo to Lambeth North.

Hoping someone out there an offer some advice.

Thanks so much.

By the time you have gone down into the underground and gone towards Embankment station changed there for the Bakerloo line to Lambeth North the bus will just about get you there already. It will be much easier and simpler on the bus as well.

The bus station at Victoria station is just on top of the underground station very clearly marked and very easy to use.

The official tube map is here: http://content.tfl.gov.uk/standard-tube-map.pdf

  • Gatwick Express train from Gatwick airport to London Victoria station (square D4 on map)
  • Circle/district line (yellow/green) eastbound Victoria to Embankment (3rd stop)
  • Bakerloo line (brown) southbound Embankment to Lambeth north (2nd stop)

Depending on where your final destination (hotel?) is, Waterloo may be nearer.

Even though it is the far side of Lambeth North it is only about 1km from Waterloo, so would be a quarter of an hour or so to walk from the main line station. Maybe decide your route on the weather.

You can get to Waterloo from Gatwick by changing at Clapham Junction. If there is a Southern train that is.

We find the bus far more pleasant than riding underground. You get nice views, especially from the upstairs seats, and once we met a gentleman who was only too happy to provide running commentary on the sights we passed as we rode. He seemed pleased that someone was interested.

Captain Bligh House is 2 miles from Victoria Station, I would take a cab, cost more but much easier and worth the cost after just arriving in London.

Always lots of options in London, another is to take the Thameslink train to Elephant and Castle (40 min) and then walk from there, 0.9 mile, although if you live in Winter Park you may not be up for that with bags.

Thanks for all the help.

Decided to take train to Victoria Station, then hop on the bus (gus).

Appreciate all of your input.
