Help, train or plane from Florence to Paris

We are traveling in September from Florence to Paris and wonder which would be the easiest, most economical way to go, train or plane? Thank you

We actually did this last week. We took the morning train from Florence (I think o/a 11 a.m.) to Turin (Torino). Had a wonderful evening walking around the city (very nice), great dinner etc. Next a.m. (o/a 0840) took the train to Paris. We wanted the train ride to be part of the experience (seeing the countryside and so forth). As far as I could figure out we could only get a day train to Paris (leaving originally from Florence) transiting overnight in Turin. Considering the price of a modest hotel and ok, not so modest dinner plus the time it's for you to determine which is best. Probably more efficient use of time flying. I won't do night trains so can't speak for costs there although there are some (transiting Milan I believe) from Florence to Paris.

I can see flights on Lufthansa from Florence to Paris-CDG with a plane change in Frankfurt. $248. Depart 06:30 and arrive in Paris at 10:55. Not bad. For the train, you can take the Artesia run from Florence to Paris. Two runs a day. The first run departs at 14:00 and arrives at 23:21. Fare is 151Euro ($211). Journey time is 9hrs21min. The second run is a night train. Departs 22.12 and arrives at 10:48 the next day. Fare is 130Euro ($182). Journey time is 12hrs36min. No train change.

If you choose to fly, take the train from Florence directly to the Pisa airport and fly from there to Paris. Your cheapest routes are Pisa-Beauvais on Ryanair and Pisa-Orly on easyJet, either of which will have lower fares than airlines flying out of Florence. Although Ryanair is likely to have the lowest fare, Beauvais is a long bus ride from Paris so, IMO, easyJet is a better choice. If you book the daytime route (departing at 14:00 and arriving at 23:21) well in advance (up to 90 days allowed) on the Trenitalia site, you can get a Smart Price fare as low as €83. This route requires changing trains in Milan. If you book the direct night train well in advance, you can get a Smart Price fare as low as €45 for a bunk in a four-person couchette.
