Help me plan

I am starting to plan for my Europe trip in April. I beleive that we are going to be doing most of our travel by train. What I was wondering is should we get our train tickets before we leave the US or wait to get them there? We are going to be staying with my brother who lives in the southern part of The Netherlands. Loooking at going to some cities in Germany, Prague, London, Paris, Rome and Venice. I really dont know what kind of a train pass we should get. Please help.

Thanks
Kari

Hi Kari,

You are fortunate to have a month to travel in Europe! You will want to check the distances between the cities that you want to visit so that you enjoy your time in Europe rather than just dashing from one city to the next.

This book covers a lot of information that will help you with your planning:
A Resource to Help You Plan Your Trip

For train tickets, it will depend on which cities you want to visit--for example, from the southern Netherlands, Paris and London are easily doable by train. In some cases, like Rome for example, it might be more efficient and even less expensive to fly on one of Europe's discount airlines.

I'd do some research, decide what your itinerary will be, and then determine what the best options are for your travel by train and/or plane.

Good luck with your planning--there are a lot of excellent tools on this site as well!
