Help - Flights to Italy

I am very green when it comes to finding flights in general. I am attending a cousin's weddinhing in September and would like to go arrive early to vacation with my family. Does anyone have recommendations on how to start search for the flights? Thanks in advance.

I prefer to start with www.kayak.com...compares multiple sites, returning the cheapest, or best itinerary, or... Sidestep and other search engines are about the same result. Check repeatedly, using diffewrent combinations of departure dates, with the idea of getting a typical ticket price. Then, if you find a cheap ticket (20% less than typical?) but it.

Checking kayak, etc. is a good place to start. After you check those websites you might want to check the airlines own websites. I have gotten better deals on the airline website.

Maurice, you have been given some great advice about wonderful sites to use in your search. Add one more to the list; Orbitz.

For our planned trip to France I put in multiple destinations into the auto notice option on Kayak. Instead of just looking for flights for my final destination (Paris), I also searched for direct flights into major hubs in Europe. Kayak kept sending me notices, and I found a cheap/direct flight to Frankfurt. Then I booked a flight on one of the lo cost inter-EU airlines (search with Kayak, Orbitz, etc AND whichbudget.com) to Paris.

Make sure that you search at least three days before and after the days you want to fly...sometimes there are flights so cheap on the days or week that you had not planned, that you cannot afford to pass them up.

Always do like Andrea says, and buy your tickets from the airlines directly!

And lastly, check flying "open jaw". (Fly into one city and return home from another. i.e. fly into Frankfurt, return home from Rome) sometimes the savings are phenominal. Enough to pay for the rental car or trains that you use exploring the region, or for the one way flight that you book on one of the cheap EU airlines.

Maurice, US Air has a non stop from Philly to Rome every night at 7 pm. Right now, they are about $460.00 RT. I doubt that you will find anything cheaper or easier. Have a great trip!

Airfare Watchdog has a very flexible way of looking for cheap fares and notifying you of what is available. You can put in different city pairs (e.g Boston-Rome, Boston-Milan). You can also put in a Europe destination and have it send you cheap flights from ALL US airports, in case there's good deal at an airport you can get to cheaply.

Bob,

That is a good price! I am traveling in August and I am finding the flight costing over one thousand dollars. Can you please tell where you found this?
Thank you

Maurice
