In Frankfurt I will have 1 hr 25 min. to change Lufthansa flight from Zagreb, Croatia to Lufthansa flight to Barcelona, Spain. Is that enough time to find my way to the connecting flight? Need to know fast!
Thanks in advance.
Since Lufthansa flight uses Terminal 1, you should have time to make the connection. We did it in less than an hour, going from Concourse A to Concourse B. That was in 2002, and right after 9-11, we had to go through security 3 times, and we made it. You have more time, but entering Schengen from Croatia, you'll have to go through immigration at Frankfurt. OK, not knowing you exact flights, I looked up flight coming from Zagreb at noon on May 17 and found one arriving at Terminal 1. There was also a flight from FRA to BCN leaving at 13:15 from Terminal 1. Without knowing the times or flight numbers, I can't find the concourses used. I only see one Lufthansa flight arriving from Zagreb on that date and it arrives at 16:05. There is a flight to Barcelona departing at 17:30. It leaves today from Concourse A. Some international flights arrive at A to use the international passenger holding area. If so, you'll only have to go upstairs from immigration to your gate.
Lee, I will arrive from Zagred to FRA at 16:05 Fl.#1415, and leave for BARC at 17:30 Fl.# 1134. (Oct.18th) Can you tell me will it leave from the same terminal and from which Concourse? So I have to go through Immigration and security before the connecting flight?
(I am a Canadian visiting relatives in Croatia). Thank you for your help!!
Since Croatia is outside Schengen, you'll be entering at Frankfurt and will have to go through Immigration (Pass port Control) at FRA. The Frankfurt Airport website (www.frankfurt-airport.com) doesn't still show the gate or concourse from today's arrival (14 hrs ago) from Zagreb, and they won't show it for tomorrow's arrival until shortly before arrival time. That's 8:05 AM for me, an hour earlier for you. I'll try to check it in the morning. Here is a map of Frankfurt Airport. Note that Terminals A, B, & C all flair out from a central hall. The 'Z' gates are above A and that area is enclosed, outside Schengen. People transferring at FRA from flights from outside of Schengen to flights to outside of Schengen are usually confined to the 'Z' Concourse so they don't have to go through Immigration. You might come into 'Z' but have to go through Immigration to get out, into Schengen and to a gate in 'A', below.
Thank you Lee. You seem to know how to navigate to the right places. I seem to be quite lost with all the info.
It would be great if I knew that I do not need to be running (can't do it very well any more) to catch the other flight. Untill tomorrow morning then. Take care.
Give it your best shot; you will probably be placed on a later flight the same day if you miss the connection. Let us know how it works out. Just out of curiosity, if you have doubts about the transfer time, why did you book that particular connection?
When I looked, they didn't give a gate number for the Zagreb flight; it just said it arrived at 16:16 at B. Your Barcelona flight was going to depart from gate A40, so you would have to change concourses. There is a tunnel connecting concourses B and A (shown on the map). When I used it in 2002, I still had to go through security (it was 4 mo after 9-11 and I had to go through a security check every time I turned around), but hopefully they have relaxed that requirement since the tunnel is between secure areas. The next Lufthansa flight to Barcelona (2100) leaves from a gate on B. All this could change by the time you could fly. Familiarize yourself with the airport map and if you are going from B to A, ask about the tunnel.
Lee, Thank you for checking again. I did book that flight because I do not want to arrive in Barcelona very late, and if fit into my multi-city itinerary well. I will study the map and hope I'll me the connection.
Thanks again.
