My son is studying abroad this summer and we are meeting him in Venice. I'm having a hard time figuring out the best way to get him from Pristina to Venice. Any suggestions? Combo of air/train is fine...all air is way too expensive, and few flights out of Pristina is making this difficult. Any ideas?

Check out balkanology.com for possible suggestions. Also check out thorntree on lonely planet if you intend to do this by bus/minibus.
My guess is that something like Pristina-Belgrade-Zagreb-Lbuljana-Venice by road will be doable, ableit longer in duration than flying.
Altenatively, he could try getting from Pristina to Sarajevo, then down to the coast in Croatia, and from there to Italy (not sure if there is a ferry that may make this easier)
