Heathrow to the West End to Stansted - possible?

I'm landing in Heathrow at 2:30pm, and then flying out of Standsted at 6:30am the next morning. Not caring about sleeping in the airport, is it possible to get into London, see a show in Piccadilly, and then make it back out to Stansted? What's the easiest route from Heathrow to Piccadilly, and then out to Stansted? And anywhere convenient to store one carryon bag?

You can take the Tube (Piccadilly Line) directly from Heathrow to Piccadilly Circus. From Liverpool Street you can take the Stansted Express train, a National Express bus, or a Terravision bus directly to Stansted. There is luggage storage at major train stations. My suggestion would be to take the Tube from Heathrow to Liverpool Street (one connection at Holborn to the Central Line) and drop off your luggage there. Then return to the West End. Buy a one day, zone 1-6 travelcard (£8.50) at Heathrow and use it to cover all your Tube rides.

Remember that you'll have to check in at the aiport well before you leave, 0430 to be safe. The first train from London Liverpool Street to Stansted Aiport is too late for that. However, you could go to the theatre and then take the train to Stansted in the evening, the last train from Liverpool Street is 2325. Alternatively the Terravision bus company runs buses from Victoria Coach Station to Stansted in the small hours.

regarding Tim's suggestion of changing at Holborn. He is correct, however this is one of the busiest interchanges in London in my experience, you do a lot of stairs and quite a bit of walking to get from Piccadilly Line to Central line, so luggage is going to make it more difficult. A suggestion would be to lag a little behind the other people who got off the piccadilly Tube so you dont get run over. The interchange is well marked though
