What are the options to get from Heathrow to London City Airport carrying two pieces of luggage for a 15-day trip including Wales and also Frankfort. We are talking a healthy but older woman. TIA,
Tom
Tom, there was a similar question recently, although it was about that trip in reverse. I gave the public transport route and someone else suggested an airport transfer service: http://www.ricksteves.com/graffiti/helpline/index.cfm/rurl/topic/101677/transfer-from-london-city-to-london-heathrow.html
The earlier answer includes the suggestion of using the Heathrow Express that came from the TfL planner. It is also possible to do the journey in almost the same time without this expense and with fewer changes: Heathrow to Green Park (Piccadilly Line) Green Park to Canning Town (Jubilee Line)
Canning Town to City Airport (DLR). Change at Green Park by coming all the way to the surface and back down again - the signed connection route involves a lot of stairs and corridors.
Thank you gentlemen, especially for directing me to the tfl planner. My traveler has 5 hours and 5 minutes from landing at Heathrow to taking off from London City Airport. Given the transportation complexity of switching airports I hope to persuade her to change flight plans. Cheers,
tom
We were told by British Airways that there is bus service between Heathrow and London City Airport. If it's true that would solve the problem. Can anyone verify? TIA very very much,
Tom
I think who ever you spoke with suggesting a bus is confusing City with Gatwick.
Yes, that advice must be for somewhere else. See this: http://londoncityairport.com/visitingtheairport/page/betweenairports That should give you the confirmation you want.
