Heathrow to Bath - National Express bus, train, car?

My husband and I will be staying outside of Bath in a rental cottage in mid-May. My son, his wife and 3 year son will be joining us and arriving in London at Heathrow a day later than our arrival in Bath. After an overnight flight from Colorado, with a 3 year old, they are looking for a way to get to Bath. Should they take the National Express Bus, a train or should we drive to Heathrow and pick them up (which doesn't sound very stress free for us...;) Any opinions?

Iwould head to London by tube.
National Express from Victoria to Bath is a 3hour trip, as low as £5 prebooked.
Train.
Great First Western have lowest fares of £12 Advanced, 2hour 30. Journey time.
Advance tickets are limited in number and specific to the one train on the ticket.
Theres some £15 tickets with 90min journey time.
Looks like if you just roll up to the station a offpeak single comes in at £42.
Early bird catches the limited advance tickets..

Strangely there is a Heathrow-Bath National express bus.
Looks like its approx £20 for a 2 and half hour trip, and if you don't check timetable a 4hour trip with a change.

I took the National Express Bus myself from Heathrow and I found it very convenient and easy. I also think it is a little quicker than the train option if you figure in travel time to the city center. However, I did not have a three year old with me. I would think you would want the quickest, most direct option and in my opinion that is the National Express.
