Luggage Problems hit Terminal 5
Let's hope this one is just temporary....but another good reason to carry-on.

Or, to skip that airport all together if at all possible. We went thru their twice. Once, because we didn't know any better and had a terrible time. Swore we would never go thru their again. Second time, when darn NWA cancelled our flight out of Amsterdam and routed us via British Air thru Heathrow. Same terrible time again. Never again!

I know someone who could not make it on her flight because of this mess. She was coming from London to join her husband already here on Vacation. I am not sure all the details but it sounds as if she was bumped from her flight. Now if it was because she could not check her baggage and they would not send it after as the arrticle said or a different situation I am unsure at this point
yes another reason not to check. Our flight in Oct is with BA from Vancouver-Machester changing planes in London and I said no way am I risking lost baggage.

I have used both Gatwick and Stanstead and had good experiences with both, but they both really are far out of town. The trains make it feasible to get to/from the airports but remember to factor in another £15/person per direction.
