Heathrow Terminal 3 then to Oxford

Hello all! We’ll be arriving via Delta to LHR, terminal 3, on Tuesday June 10 at 9am. Reading other forum questions, it looks like we can use e-immigration kiosk w/ US passports. Any advice on best bus to get to Oxford? (I found airport Oxford direct bus). Does anyone know how long the walk will be and/or what time I should book the bus for?

Last, if anyone has had any experience coming back through US Customs (particularly thru JFK) after an international trip, I’m interested to hear. Thanks!

You can take a National Express coach (bus) service. The bus station is above the terminal 2/3 tube station, about a 15 minute walk through the underground tunnel from when you pass the customs green channel.

It's a full flexible fare, do you don't need to worry about arrivals times, but for reference I would allow an hour from touchdown assuming you have luggage. The variable are which gate you arrive at (some of them are a very long walk to passport control), how long your luggage takes, and any delays to your flight arrival. Passport control is automated and usually quick unless there's a tech meltdown.

And I assume you have completed your UK ETA?

It is NOT National Express, who only run a handful of (longer distance) services on this route. They sell tickets as a third party (under more restrictive conditions) for the Oxford Airline.
As ever far better to book direct rather than through a 3rd party.

Just buy on the first bus out when you arrive. In particular the National Express option to change bus if needed for a fee doesn't apply to this third party route.

If you buy direct you have 24 hours flexibility free of charge.

I would suggest using the Oxford Airline bus (linked to in Frank’s post above). It’s very easy, convenient, and relatively inexpensive (last year it was £25). Plus, you do not need to book ahead. I didn’t when I used it, and just used my credit card to tap and pay when I got on board.

It picks up at the major terminals, and will drop you off in Oxford at several locations. My hotel was near the Gloucester Green station, which is its final stop (and where you get on first if you’re heading to Heathrow from Oxford). It is right in the center.
