I need to overnight at Heathrow and want to know best way to get to terminal. I read that the hotels are not allowed to have shuttles. I think it will be terminal 5 but not sure.

So what is your question? Do hotels have shuttles?
In my research the transportation options are dependent on where your hotel is and which terminal. The options are generally public bus, hoppa bus, Uber and taxis. Best option really depends on your circumstances and budget.
Edit. I was only looking at hotels right near Heathrow. Mostly along bath road or the adjacent area

There's a Sofitel right next to Terminal 5, with a skybridge. Pricey but very convenient.

We always stay at the Sofitel LHR at Terminal 5.

Check out the local mini cabs that operate in and around Heathrow - our hotel recommended the service to us on our last trip and we found it to be a convenient and relatively cheap way to get from our accommodation near terminal 4 back to terminal 5 for our homeward flight. You really can't beat the door to door service with luggage.
