Heathrow connection T3-T5

Hi:
We will be flying into Heathrow from Canada and connection to a domestic flight. The connection time is 90 min. Is this even possible with having to pick up our bags and clear customs ? or should we simly find a BA rep when we arrive and try to change the booking.

Here are the step by step instructions of what you need to do: http://www.heathrowairport.com/portal/page/Heathrow%5EGbl%5EHeathrow%5EGeneral%5EAirport+information%5EFlight+Connections/dca1e73955c28110VgnVCM20000039821c0a____/448c6a4c7f1b0010VgnVCM200000357e120a____/ If you are flying on one ticket from start to finish, and you miss your flight, BA will put you on the next one. If it's two separate tickets, it could be tight. (Sorry, I can't get links to work.)

According to the Heathrow website, connecting from an International flight to a flight within the UK, T3 to T5, you will have to go throug immigration, and the minimum connect time is 90 minutes. But this does not include/allow time to claim an dre-check bags if they are not checkeed through. If your baggage is not through-checked you must follow signs for arrivals and collect your bags from the baggage reclaim hall, then check your bags back in. So if you are sure you can't check your bags through, you will need more time. Even if you can, it will be tight. OUr last time through Heathrow, last May, it took a full hour just to go through the lines at Immigration.

Marssha, Could you clarify whether your flights are a "code share" arrangement? If that's the case, your checked luggage will be delivered to your final destination and you won't have to collect it at Heathrow. If you don't have to deal with the luggage, the 90-minute time for the connecting flight should be adequate. One point to mention though. Once you've passed through the Customs / Immigration checkpoint, you'll probably have to also go through a Biometric checkpoint. That involves having your photo taken, and then affixing a Bar Code sticker to the back of your Passport. When you reach security for the next flight, the sticker will be collected by the Agent, and when it's scanned your photo will appear on the security monitor. It's very important not to miss this part of the process, as if you don't have the sticker when you go through security, YOU WILL be sent back through the Terminal to get the Biometric done. I transited through Heathrow last August on a flight to Edinburgh, and observed several people from my flight dealing with that exact scenario! As I recall, my flights were between T1 & T3, so I have no information on how you'll get from T3 to T5. There's a LOT of construction taking place at Heathrow lately, so you may be using a Shuttle Bus. Happy travels!

Thanks for your reply. The ticket is "code-share" per say but it is issued with Air Canada with the domestic portion being with British Airways. The AC rep told me that because it is 1 ticket if I miss the "legal" connection (90min) BA will put me on another flight. I am a bit skeptical.

Marssha, As its a code share, the information they provided is correct. They will put you on another flight. The nice thing is that you won't have to deal with your checked luggage until you reach your final destination. My flights were very similar. AC to Heathrow and then BMI to Edinburgh.
