I would take the tube (Piccadilly line) from Heathrow to Kings Cross / St Pancras. It takes about an hour. However, make sure to check the tfl.gov.uk site to make sure that there are no engineering works scheduled for the Sunday that you are traveling.

How much will it be to take the tube? I need to get from Heathrow to Leicester. Which will be easier taking a bus/train to leicester?

The cash fare for Heathrow to Kings Cross/St Pancras on the Tube is £5.00. The standard fare for a train to Leicester is around £50.00. If you book well in advance at www.eastcoast.co.uk, you can get a discount fare as low as £12.00. Discount fares are posted about 10 weeks in advance. The ticket will be non-refundable and non-exchangeable and will be for a specific departure date and time. If you book a discount fare ticket, allow plenty of time between your scheduled arrival at LHR and your scheduled departure from St Pancras. If your plane is late and you miss your train, you will be out the price of the ticket. I'd suggest a minimum of four hours.

Hi Sasha,
We used the Picadilly line to get from LHR to St. Pancras on a Sunday morning last June. (lst time we ever tried using the tube instead of a cab). The whole thing was quite simple except for buying the ticket. The "which zones" bit was a bit confusing. It also would have been simpler to have the money in pound coins instead of paper notes which the machine had trouble reading.

Thankyou so much and will it be better and easier to take Virgin Trains from St Pancras or heathrow to Leicester?

It looks like the Virgin Trains website will have you taking either the Heathrow Express to Paddington then the tube to St Pancras, or taking the tube from Heathrow directly to St Pancras. Either way, Virgin lists that you'll then catch an East Midlands Train to Leicester. You might want to check prices with East Midlands directly, and just purchase a single trip tube ticket from Heathrow to St Pancreas when you get to the tube station at Heathrow.
