Has anyone traveled TAP Air Portugal on a transatlantic flight?

What were your experiences? Good or bad?

It's been nearly a year since our flights on TAP, but for what it's worth, the flights were fine. Only a bit late in both directions. Flight attendants were helpful. Food was pretty good. In flight entertainment includes introductory tourist European Portuguese lessons, which were fun. Both Lisbon and Porto airports were, like everywhere else, a bit chaotic. Administratively, TAP is the same old nightmare it was 40 years ago. Getting our cancelled flight refunds from 2020 took months and months. But, on the up side, if you sign up on their website for the promotions, you'll get some good ones. From DC a few weeks ago, they were offering a round trip starting at $398.

My son and his 3 friends flew TAP one year ago from SF to Lisbon, and back. They had zero problems, checked luggage, liked the plane, cleanliness, service, flight attendants, food, etc. They were very happy with TAP and their budget friendly prices.

We have flown TAP many, many times on transatlantic flights, as recently as last summer, and we have never had any problems with them. Always on time, good flight service, and decent food.

Several years ago, our flight from Lisbon to Marseille was cancelled because there was an air controller's strike in Marseille. TAP put us on the flight leaving the next day. They paid for our hotel, transported us by bus to/from the hotel, and gave us meal vouchers. So, no complaints here about TAP.

Flew them in March, round trip from Newark. No problems. Flight to Lisbon was delayed by 1-2 hours but there was a weather situation delaying lots of flights that day. Seats and food were fine, service was pleasant, checked bag arrived safely. I will fly with them again

Is this part of Murphy’s Law, sorry this is causing you to stress. We’re happy that 1) we aren’t traveling this summer internationally this summer, and 2) we are taking a delta non-stop flight to Spain end of September. Hopefully all this chaos will be cleared up soon.

Sorry to be slow; I just noticed your post. Ten months ago I flew Toronto-Lisbon round trip, in business class. Flights themselves were okay, on fairly new aircraft. But service was wobbly. The entertainment system was far from intuitive to operate and choices were limited. On the return flight it didn't work at all. Food service, in my expensive seat, was obliging but the contents ranged from pleasant to barely edible (a terrible meat pie). Can't argue with Portuguese wine. At a time when Covid security was tighter, passengers leaving Lisbon were loaded on stand-up buses, shoulder to shoulder, to be ferried to the plane. Hardly what the doctor ordered for safe health. In sum, my trip was not worth the high upgrade.
