We plan to fly from Dublin to Rome in June. We can use our travel points, but are limited to Aer Lingus. Does anyone have experience with this airlines? --Barb
I have flown with Aer Lingus every time I've gone to Ireland, and I have never had any kind of problem with them. I fly direct to Dublin or Shannon from Chicago. I prefer Shannon to Dublin because it's easier to get in and out of, but I haven't had any particular problems at Dublin other than it being a busier airport.
Never had any problems with Aer Lingus flights either on U.S. to/from Ireland or Ireland to/from other European countries.
Dublin Airport is another story...every time I have flown from Dublin, it's been hectic and unorganized. Not just my experience either as I have a number of relatives that live in Ireland that also have problems regularly at this airport.
Just plan on giving yourself plenty of time to check-in before your flight.
Thank you both for responding. I just wanted to make sure it was an airline that folks have used with positive experiences. And, thank you for the tip about the Dublin airport. We'll make sure we give ourselves plenty of time.
make sure you check their web site if you are planning on just bringing a carry-on. they only allow 13 pounds so you'll have to pack very light!
I can only say good things about Aer Lingus. Any crews that I have dealt with have always been very mature and professional. Being an experienced Incharge myself, I often "observe" the other Crews in action. I can't help but evaluate their skill and professionalism in dealing with Passengers. You can't help but learn a few things along the way as well.
I would say that they have always been very courteous and professional anytime I've had dealings with them. I know that the Trans-Atlantic Crews receive additional finesse training and are very focussed on providing a high level of service.
You can't go too far wrong with Aer lingus.
Aer Lingus has kind of split into two carriers. The trans-Atlantic one still works like a regular scheduled airline. The European-domestic one, however, given the fierce competition thru Ryanair, has turned into just the same. They're a low cost carrier and all the rules of such an airline apply, like tiny seat pitches, no free food and drink on board, very limited service, very strict baggage restrictions etc. So here, too, read the fineprint carefully!
