My mother is 89 years old and has always wanted to visit Paris. She is very excited about making the trip. However, she had a fall three weeks ago and injured her knee and ankle. We leave in three weeks and wonder if we should take along a wheel chair, in case the walking is too much for her, or look for a wheel chair when we arrive? Will she have access to the museums, Eiffel Tower, bus tours of the city, etc.? We plan to take the Chunnel to London for a three day visit. The same concerns for wheel chair accessibility in London. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jamie
Hopefully this link will help in your planning: Accessible TravelRick has written a book on this subject, click on Travel Store (above ribbon). In general, Paris is not as accessible as cities here--so it's good you're researching this now.
I'd take the hop on and off bus tour of each city so you get an overview of all the major sites in both areas. In Rome I took one last Sept. I did not hop on and off the first time around but just enjoyed seeing everything. Also, think of taking taxis rather then try to take the metro or tube.
