I saw a post on GPS for the car. I do not need a car one but one I can hold. Is there a handheld one anyone can recommend? One that's strictly for Europe, I have one already for the US. I'm going to be in London and Paris in June/July. Not one too pricey either.. I just want one that doesn't make me look like a complete tourist! LOL Thanks!
Thanks Kent.. didn't think of the buildings. My GPS on my cell phone is used when I drive, which is usually on the open road, so I didn't think of buildings blocking me.
Last time I went to Paris my husband "insisted" things were close by. That led to 45 minutes of "walking" to the place that he swore was around the corner on the map. UGH!!! LOL!!!! That's why I wanted a GPS to see if its more feasible to take the metro or take the walk.
I found a few on ebay (the UK site) with the european map already loaded on it. Price wise, not bad. about $100-$150. I have until June to ho and hum...
Michelle,
I've used a Garmin Nuvi 370 in the U.K. and although this seems primarily intended for vehicle use, I believe it has a "walking" mode. I have used it for walking around London, basically just to try it out, and it worked well. The Nuvi 370 seemed to be quite responsive and not affected by buildings, although it takes several minutes to "lock on" after initial power-on.
Happy travels!
