Friday September 30 I searched for a flight from Rome to the city that airlines forgot: Cincinnati. I found a flight on Air France [provided by Delta] from Rome to Atlanta with a 4-1/2 hr layover in Atlanta and a flight to Cincinnati, I went so far as entering names of passengers and selecting seats [premium economy] for both legs of the flight. At the end up popped the option: “Need Time To Think” which, for $36 would hold our booking for 72 hours. When we went back to do the final booking on a page Air France sent us, we booked the flight and paid the tariff. When we got the confirmation we were in economy, no seat selection, and no baggage accounted for.
We have attempted to contact Air France to no avail. One customer service rep said we would have to contact Delta since the flights are provided by Delta. We contacted Delta and they have no record of our being on the flight.
The only contact we’ve had with Air France is with a generic “customer service” minion 12 time zones away, and the only contact we can find for Delta is a “digital chat”, also with someone 12 time zones away. The flight is April 30, 2023. So it would seem we have some time to deal with this if we could find an Air France or Delta employee to talk with. Is this a thing of the past?
