Great fares to Dublin for next May from YYZ

Hey everyone,

Air Canada Rouge has flights to Dublin next May from Toronto for as low as $632, depending on day of the week. They even allow a checked bag at that price.

Hopefully someone can take advantage of it!

Both Air Canada and Aer Lingus began direct Toronto-Dublin flights this spring. WestJet also went on the route, its first trans-ocean itinerary and very much an experiment, since it has to make a stop in Newfoundland. There are many worse places than St. John's if you want to stay over for a few days but obviously it is not such a competitive offering. Anyhow, if any or all the airlines quit the service when they examine their balance sheets, that far-off price may not stand up. Fingers crossed....

Andrea,

Thanks for the note. I'm not sure how much of an advantage that will be for those of us on the west coast, as we would still have to get to and from YYZ. Current AC fares from YLW to YYZ range between $267 - 346 each way. $632 is still a reasonably good price (was that one way or return?).

I knew about Westjet and Aer Lingus covering the route now. I think I belong to the minority of Canadians who hate Westjet. Every experience with them has been negative but all my AC flights have been good.

Ken, it is return. I wish I could take advantage but for three things (its May and I prefer September, still not decided on our next destination, and DH's work has been uncertain lately so no travel commitments can be made).

Andrea,

Thanks for the info. If I could connect that with a seat sale from YLW to YYZ, that would likely be a good deal. However not sure the timing would fit, as I usually like to travel in September.

I wasn't aware there was a minority that dislike WestJet. They always seem to work so hard to give passengers a positive experience. I don't use WJ often simply because Air Canada offers a much greater number of flight choices, so their timing always seems to fit my travel plans better. For the same reason, I'm not able to use Air Transat as they also have some good prices. I'd like to try them again now that they've upgraded their interiors. I've found that I can usually get to where I want to be with the easiest and quickest connections using a combination of AC and their code share partners. That will be the case this year as well.

Hopefully the work situation with your DH improves in the near future so you can start planning that next trip!

Ken,

I know most people rave about WestJet, but I have only had bad experiences (admittedly I haven't flown with them very often). Every single flight has been late (in one case very, very late). And the cabin crew behaved very unprofessionally. That said, if their routes and prices suited me, I'd still give them another try.

Air Canada has been good for me both with variety of destinations and some decent prices. I've used Air Transat a lot, but I notice that each year they have fewer Europe destinations (no Germany at all from YYZ!). For some reason, the carryon weight limit for UK flights on Air Transat is only 5kg, which I simply can't meet. We did get one of the upgraded interiors on AT last year and it was marvellous.

Thanks for your words regarding DH's work. Things have been a bit better over the last few weeks, and they think the fall will be better again. He's in mining R&D - you'd think that would be more certain! I can't complain too much though; we just had a terrific driving holiday to the States and are committed to a Caribbean cruise for February. I am dying to get back to Europe though. Fingers crossed!
