Can anyone recommend a GPS for traveling by car in France and traveling by foot and public transportation in Italy, Germany, and Spain? Also, when making a recommendation, did the GPS come loaded with maps of Europe or did you purchase the maps separately? Where did you purchase the maps and approximately how much did they cost? Thanks so much for all your suggestions.
I have the Garmin nüvi 275/275T, and am very happy with it. Used it when we traveled in Spain last year. Got it from Amazon, and price was just right.
Wouldn't be too useful though when walking, just when driving the car.
Good luck!
Gene
Thanks for your suggestions. It seems a Garmin Nuvi is a good choice.

Susan, the Garmin Nuvi may be a good choice, but you need to decide WHICH Garmin Nuvi. There are many to choose from.
If you want a nuvi that has both North America and Europe maps preloaded, then you have 3 choices: the 275, 775, or 1370. You can add Europe maps to others, but at a cost of about $100 (for a single country or region) to $150 for all of Europe.
The Garmin Nuvi 775 has been discontinued and replace by the 1370, though can still be found with some searching. It has some useful features lacking in the 1370, but the 1370 has some features the 775 does not.
You should log on to www.garmin.com and compare the various models.
I have been reading the reviews on those three units and am leaning towards the 1370. Thanks to all for your suggestions.
