Hi, I was wondering if the TomTom's European address conversions are accurate? I've always used good ol' maps and will be taking along our GPS to France for the first time next trip. (2010 European maps) Is there a good website that will convert European addresses to GPS coordinates that could give me an advance sense of this? This is new tech stuff for me, so thanks!
Thanks James... it's that simple, huh?? Don't need the coordinates then. I'm getting the maps installed this week-end and I need to get the learning curve going in how to use the thing.
The only problem we had was staying at a place that didn't actually have a "street address" and I couldn't find a way to get coordinates for it. TomTom got us within a couple of miles. Luckily we had a cell phone and the reservation clerk was able to give us enough information to get us there. Otherwise, the GPS was great for traveling through Normandy, Brittany and the Loire Valley.
I think you can get coordinates through Google Earth by using addresses. Someone else may be able to give you better information about that.
Thanks to both of you.
Don't forget, TT is an EU company. We love using out TT in the EU. It works the same there as here. We have used our TT in Germany, Austria, France, Italy(including Sardinia), and Portugal with great results. Just the same, it is not infallable. We always carry a small compass and a fold out Michelin map of the country that we will be travleing in.
