Global Transfer Service and Filling a Couple of Hours at CDG

Hello all....a couple of questions for this well-traveled group of folks: 1. The above car service is being recommended to us for travel from CDG to our rental apartment in Paris...has anyone used them before? Are there any other companies you would recommend? 2. Also, it appears we may have some time to fill between landing at CDG (6am) being able to get into the apt (9ish)...does anyone know if there is a place at the airport to sit and grab a bite to eat AFTER we grab our luggage and clear customs? We aren't all that keen about getting all the way to our apartment and then having to drag our luggage around the area with us as we try to find food. Thanks so much...you have no idea how helpful everyone on this site has been to me in planning our trip....Cici

There are cafes in all the terminals. If you wheels touch down at 6, you probably won't get into town until around 9 anyway.

Cici you know a taxi is likely a cheaper option then a car hire service. I have taken them quite a few times, sometimes I take the train, but when I take a taxi its only about 45-55 euros.. how much is this car service? The taxis are licenced and metered and there is a proper taxi rank with an attendant.

You won't be in town much earlier than 9, if that.
you'll need over an hour from touchdown to taxi stand and You arrive when all commuters drive into Paris. That's another 45 min if you are lucky.

There's no need to overpay for a car service. Take a taxi. Even if you're stuck in traffic, there's no way it would end up costing as much as $110 (around 85€). (The first big bag (over about 10 pounds or so)is free; you pay 1€ for any bags more than one (I.e. total of 1€ if you have two bags; 2€ if you have three bags, 3€ if you have four bags.). Thus the extra bags fee is minimal at best. The only reason for hiring a car service would be if it would be worth the extra 25-30€ to you to not have to wait in the taxi line. I've never paid more than 60€ ever for a taxi into Paris from the airport, even in the morning traffic. (Confession: a friend paid 100€ to get to the airport the other morning, but this was an extremely bad situation with unexpected snow, the RER was having problems too, it was just a nightmare morning, something truly out-of-the-ordinary that happens maybe once a year and not something to take into consideration when doing your planning.

Hello....I am in the process of getting a quote to my specific address, but in looking at prices for travel to the general area of my apartment, it looks like they are charging about $110 USD. I assume this does not include a tip). We will probably have two suitcases and a couple of carryons....we thought about taxis but a: I am concerned we would get the special "tourist route" and b: I have heard the taxis charge more for extra baggage and am not sure if I fall into that category...is there a way to book a taxi for a specific route/price? Please forgive my ignorance... Thank you for information regarding the timing....we wondered how long it might take us to get our luggage, go through customs and then actually getting into Paris so it sounds like we may arrive right on time....Cici

Do what rings your bell, but there's absolutely no chance of a taxi scam and the cost of a couple exta pieces of luggage will still make a taxi less expensive than a car hire.

You won't get cheated by a taxi, but your meter will keep ticking while you sit in the morning traffic jam. I guarantee you there will be a big one at that time of day. I once had a shared van driver pull into a gas station for almost an hour to wait out the traffic. But at least you'll know the price with a van service, private or shared.
