Let's say you're in a train station in Italy. You have a Eurail pass valid in Italy and you want to take a train that requires a reservation. So you can't just hop on the train, you have to get a reservation first. But the ticket window has a long line (419 people!), so you decide to use a ticket machine to get the reservation. At a certain point in the ticket machine dialogue you're presented with a "Global Pass" option, which I understand is a reservation (not a ticket) for a rail pass that you already possess. It requires you to enter your pass number. Can this Global Pass (reservation) be used for a Eurail pass, or just an InterRail pass? (An InterRail pass is for European residents only). Thanks!
not answering your actual question, but where have you seen 419 people in a queue in an Italian station? The worst I have seen, and I have seen some horrendous queues in Italy, was in Milan, and I have never seen much over 100.
Only going by what I've read, the answer to your question is "yes."
Nigel, forgive me, but in this hypothetical situation, I was teasing. I've never actually counted people in line.
