Global Entry interview process

Hi folks. I reviewed the August post on the topic of frustrations with scheduling an interview once approved for Global Entry. I understand the work-around option of using Global Entry on Arrival. My question is, am I missing something or is the process for scheduling an interview completely broken? I am checking the https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/schedulerui/ site often, attempting to schedule interview in St Louis. Since Dec 1, the site tells me appts full thru Dec 9, but then gives no option to schedule beyond that. Today the date has been changed, apps full thru Dec 21. Logically, someone must have been able to make an appointment during that time frame. That someone is not me; multiple attempts over past several months have resulted only in frustration. Why is there no option to schedule, ever? I would be fine scheduling several months in advance.

Wondering if A) anyone has advice on this, and B) if anyone has used one of trackers, eg https://www.ttptracker.com/locations/global-entry .

It seems utterly ridiculous that the system is this non-functional, but if I have to pay for a tracking service, I will. Obviously cheaper than flying to El Paso!

Thank you.

Suzanne,

This past July, I was told that the new schedule comes out at 2:00 on Wednesdays. We had our accounts opened at that time and were able to schedule our appointments the following week. Hope this works for you as well.

I went to your second link and was able to find St Louis way at the bottom. The cities do not seem to be in alphabetical order

There was one button that said something about the next appointment being 365 days away but then next to it was another button about getting faster service. I found it very confusing.

I did some searching and found this link. I do not know if it will be any help to you

Go with On Arrival. Like you, I could never get an appointment. On a trip back from Germany this spring there was no one in line ahead of me seeking an interview in Dallas. Done in 10 minutes.

The Springfield, Missouri airport sometimes has slots available. It may be worth the drive down I-44. A friend of mine Living in Arkansas just got an appointment in Springfield - much much quicker.

My husband is about to renew for the second time and thus has to have another interview. The only appt he could get was in Chicago, so he scheduled it as an overnight layover from another trip.

Anyone find it ironic that so much time and energy is spent tracking down these interview slots and driving to them, when going through the regular procedures in the airport may end up not so much different in terms of time in line?

Muriel, ha ha! I admit I'm guilty of it. But in my case, I was able to travel to the MN/Canada border for my interview, which I coincided with a trip to Grand Portage State Park, which sits right next to it. So win-win for me. 😊

I guess I got lucky. Just did my second renewal and this time an interview was not required. Yay!

"when going through the regular procedures in the airport may end up not so much different in terms of time in line?"

@Muriel, do you mean when you are re-entering the country and using GE or to get the interview the first time? I got it before they started with the Mobile Passport so I'm keeping it up. It has always been faster for me with a shorter line coming back in thru Immigration. I guess it depends on your entry airport. My usual airport is Seattle but last year routed thru Atlanta and it was so quick there I didn't realize I was done, hahaha!

I scheduled an appointment at LAX for months out. I looked every day for a cancellation and was able to get one for months earlier.
