Global Entry Appointment at O'Hare

Hi! I have a trip to Italy on April 1 and am desperately trying to get my Global Entry interview schedule prior to the trip. I am in St. Louis and I am confirmed for a weekend appointment in Chicago at 4:00. The same confirmation, however, states that the hours are M-F 9:-3:30. No one answers the phone when I call (the voice mail box is full) but the voice message also says the hours are M-F 9:00-3:00.

I don't want to drive all the way to chicago to find out the office is closed. Has anyone ever done a weekend interview at O'Hare?

Thank you!

No experience with this, but I wanted to suggest looking into the Mobile Passport Control app if Global Entry doesn’t work out. MPC worked beautifully for us in Seattle, allowing us to bypass a huge line at immigration. The MPC line is right next to the Global Entry line, and the MPC line was even shorter than global entry. And it’s free.

Do you really get any benefit by doing an 8 hour round-trip drive to Chicago just to save a little bit of time for your trip in April. You could just do the interview on arrival when you are already at the airport.

I’ve had global entry for 12 years and it is convenient, but no way would I drive hours for an interview.

@travel4fun thank you for this information! I will look into it!

@Laura, thank you! How does interview on arrival work? Do I still need a pre set appointment throug the TTP program?

Due to construction at O’Hare, I don’t think there is a dedicated line for Mobile Passport at this time.

My global entry renewed seamlessly but my husband needs an interview. Anyone have any experience with the zoom/remote option they offered?

You don't set an appointment. You still go through the regular immigration line and then tell the officer that you want to do the interview on arrival and they tell you where to go/line up. We did this at Newark last week. It would depend on your layover time and how busy they are which is impossible to predict. The interview itself was less than 10min.

My husband and I also had our GE interview in Newark in December upon returning from Costa Rica. We did not have to go through the Immigration line since the GE interview counted as the Immigration check. It was fast and easy. Perhaps it is confusing to many because of its very simplicity. You have your interview when you return to O'Hare. There is no appointment time. That's it. Sounds too good to be true, but it is easy. No way should you waste time going from St. Louis to O'Hare and then back to St. Louis! Please don't overthink this.

I did mine also upon arrival (into Atlanta), and no you don't need -- and can't make -- an appointment, but do be aware that whether you are able to do it or not depends on how long the line is and how much time you have.

The first time I tried to do it, the person had just gone on break, and I didn't have enough time before my next flight, so just had to go on. The second time, I was successful, but I had to wait two hours -- and would have had to wait longer if the last woman ahead of me in line hadn't had an expired application.

The interview itself was easy, then it took a little while while the guy went back in some other office to check some stuff. I don't know if you have to wait on that second part, but he had me wait.

It might be easy, or it might take some time. It was definitely worth it for me because at home I am from Tulsa and there are definitely no appointments there !

Interesting, I've heard people say this but I asked one of the helpers in the immigration hall and she was adamant that we went through the line first, and were told the same when we tried to do it in Toronto. Per anything with TSA the answer may vary, so ask when you reach the immigration hall. Immigration was not busy at all, so that may be a factor on how they routed us.
