Hello,
I read the instructions on The Man in Seat 61 website for travel from Belgium to Paris. However, I'm having trouble booking the tickets and don't know if it is a user error (probably), or a result of fewer trains since we are planning to travel on a Saturday, August 27.
The Man suggests using thetrainline.com - but I can only see trips with 2 connections taking over 5 hours.
When I search Bruges to Paris, I see the preferred connections with high-speed Thalys trains.
Any guesses what I'm doing wrong?
thank you!
I see a full schedule of trains leaving on that day. However the trainline schedule is not complete when compared to the sites of the companies operating the trains.
Try Searching just the Brussels to Paris leg and book that separately from the Ghent Brussels leg.
Use the Thalys site for Brussels to Paris
https://www.thalys.com/fr/en
or
try The Belgian National Rail site for Ghent to Paris
https://www.b-europe.com/EN
Also make sure you have the correct train station as:
Gent-Sint-Pieters to Paris Nord
Thank you!
The Belgian National Rail site for Ghent to Paris is very helpful.
The local trains to Antwerp or Brussels are many times an hour and unreserved. Most are commuter trains with limited luggage space.
