We'll be arriving at Heathrow late in the evening. Thinking of staying at the Yotel in terminal 4 and then getting to Bath the next day. However, it sounds like it might be easier to get to Bath from London than to Bath from Heathrow. What's your opinion?
We did this in October. We arrived at Heathrow, walked to the bus terminal and took the bus. The bus station is at Heathrow, no taxi or public transportation is needed. (we arrived at 2PM London time) London to Bath is about a 2 hour trip. There are a few stops along the way, but not long ones. The bus terminal in Bath is right next to the train station. The bus trip was far less expensive than the train trip. I bought my tickets online so I had a seat assignment. Depending on what you consider 'Late' arrival, you might consider just getting to Bath, getting to your hotel and getting a good night's sleep so you will be ready to explore beautiful Bath the next day - instead of taking the morning to arrive and wasting a day of sightseeing!
Joan, How "late" does your flight arrive? That may have a bearing on whether you'll be able to take the Coach to Bath on the night you arrive. With that in mind, I definitely agree with the previous reply in that it would be better to get to Bath straight away (if possible). LHR is west of London, so going to London and then returning to Bath would involve "backtracking". I've taken the National Express Coach from LHR to Bath, and it's a very easy trip. Your destination will be Bath Spa. From there you can take a Taxi to your Hotel or B&B (which is the method I use). Happy travels!
The other way to go is bus from Heathrow to Reading then train to Bath. If you're arriving that late, you idea of staying at the Yotel is a good one. London is east of Heathrow, Bath is west. Why add the extra time, and expense, of going into London.
Bus is the answer if I knew how late late is easier to give thoughtful answer
Thanks everyone. Very helpful. We'll be arriving at Heathrow at 10:00 p.m.
