Getting through customs at Dusseldorf

We will be flying LAX to Dusseldorf landing at 1:35 PM. We have a train connection from the airport to Haarlem leaving at 3:35PM. Is that usually enough time to get through customs and still make the train? Of course, we will be carrying our luggage with us.

You will potentially have two checks, Passport Control and Customs. You will definitely have to wait in line to have your passport stamped because you are entering the Schengen zone. They will also have customs, but I have never (8x) had to stop for it. They will have a lane marked "Nothing to declare" and you should be able to quickly pass out of the airport through that lane. I've not flown into Düsseldorf, but in Frankfurt, in less than an hour, I am usually in the Bahnhof waiting for my train.

On the other hand, one three of my last trips, I have been an hour delayed arriving in Europe. A late flight arrival is your biggest risk to making your 3:35 train.
