What is the best way to get from Venice to Garmisch ? We plan to then rent a car and do day trips, to salzburg and throughout germany. The 3 of us, 2 adults one 11 yr old, are doing this in mid June and plan on flying out of frankfurt back to the US. I appreciate any ideas, thoughts and help or advice you can offer! Thanks,

Take the train to Garmisch. 6.5 to 7 hr ride with 3 changes. Verona, Innsbruck, Mittenwald. You can rent a car there from one of the big boys and drop it at Frankfut airport.

THANKS ! Is it better to go to Munich then down to garmisch ? 3 starts seems like alot so i wonder if there is a more direct or faster route?
I've tried to use the Trenitalia website and man am i confused on how to use the site to figure out anything ? Is there any easier site or way ???

Use the German train site, bahn.de. It is much more comprehensive. The route Sam gave you is the shortest and quickest. Three changes are not a problem. While you might be able to avoid one of those changes (Innsbruck) by going direct from Verona to Munich, that is out of your way and takes longer. Also, that train only runs every 2 hours, so you might end up waiting a long time at the Verona station.
